Trauma Specialists, LLP

The Legacy Biomechanics Laboratory serves as an interface for knowledge transfer between orthopaedic practice and engineering sciences for the improvement of health care.
The Legacy Biomechanics Laboratory was founded in 1999 by Michael Bottlang, Ph.D., and Steven Madey, M.D., under the premise that interdisciplinary collaboration between biomedical engineers and orthopaedic surgeons will catalyze strategies for the advancement of health care. Today, their team includes four orthopaedic surgeons, two Ph.D. scientists, three research associates at the masters level, as well as engineering students and orthopaedic residents.
The Legacy Biomechanics Laboratory is affiliated with the Legacy Level 1 Trauma Center and is housed in the Legacy Research & Technology Center, a 65,000 square foot facility which opened in 1997. It serves as a resource for basic and applied research and engages in industry collaboration.
Trauma Specialists network physicians engage in research to advance trauma care therapies and treatment options, develop new technologies, and improve patient care protocols.
Research is conducted in a variety of areas and categories such as clinical research projects, basic science research, and research in key specialty and sub-specialty areas of medicine.
Research is commonly published in peer-reviewed journals. Multiple articles are available to view in the publications section. Also of interest is the Legacy Biomechanics Laboratory.
