Jamie Hunter

While descending Mt. Adams with fellow University of Portland classmates, a 500-pound boulder struck Jamie Hunter, throwing her more than 20 feet in the air and 80 feet down the mountain. Amazing resources assisted in her prolonged rescue, including medical and military personnel. Upon admission to the Legacy Emanuel Medical Center operating room, her heart flat-lined and had to be restarted.

Jamie had over 70 surgeries, receiving excellent care in the West Wing ICU and TRACU for over three months, with her family by her side. A Seattle native, Jamie transferred closer to home for her ongoing recovery. Now Jamie has returned to the University of Portland, a vibrant young woman who also volunteers her time at the trauma center to give back to those who gave so much to her.
